my old music which I ADORE was the version of myself I wished I was . I was going through abuse and couldn’t express my reality to the public at that point , so I decide to imagine that I was strong enough to fight it all and made the worldwide torture character 16 year old me could shield in hard times a character filled with self worth and confidence and standing up for urself even though I rarely ever had any of those traits
Jazmin Bean talking about the Worldwide Touture era.
Worldwide Torture is the debut EP by Jazmin Bean. It was released on October 22, 2019 through their independent label, Aswang Birthday Cake. A re-up of the EP was released on November 11, 2020, through Aswang Birthday Cake, Island Records, Interscope Records, and Universal Music Group.
Background
Bean initially wanted to delve into film, not wanting following in their family's musical careers. However, they found it difficult to express their vision in that medium, leading them to do music instead. Another key turning point was when their friend Jessica Winter encouraged them to start recording, leading to their first songs produced by her, "War Zone Urchin" and "Saccharine".
Around 2017, Bean began posting extreme alternative makeup looks on Instagram, gaining a following that gave them the courage to start releasing music. On July 29, 2019, they announced the lead single, "Worldwide Torture", which was released alongside its music video on. On September 28, 2019, Bean revealed the full track list for the EP and it's release date for October 22, 2019. It was released with promotional single one day prior, being "Saccharine".
After the EP’s release, Bean shared promotional artwork for each track with joke captions.[1][2][3][4] They continued to work on and release new music, stating that the future of Worldwide Torture would be "c*nt". On June 8, 2020, Bean announced a re-up of the EP[5], originally intended to only include two old singles and two new ones, as stated via an Instagram Q&A on July 27, 2020.[6]
As is typical with Bean, they frequently posted snippets of songs intended for the re-up, including both tracks later put on the it and outtakes, on their social media from 2019 to 2020.
On October 30, 2020, Bean released the re-up's lead single, "Yandere", along with a music video, which was announced prior. They would share the cover on October 13, 2020. The track list was shared via Instagram stories on October 14, 2020.[7] On November 9, 2020 they announced the re-up was coming November 11, 2020. [8] The second single, "Monster Truck", was announced on November 6, 2020, and released on November 3, 2020, with a visualizer.
The re-up was officially released on November 11, 2020, along with the music video for "Princess Castle". Afterward, the original EP was removed from all streaming platforms.
