"Speak" (also referred to by filename as "GRBS" [initials] [1]; erroneously referred to as "Broken Heart") is a song by Jazmin Bean. It was intended to be released on the early version of Traumatic Livelihood, however, the project was revised and the song was not reused.

Background[]

On November 25, 2021, Bean uploaded snippets of the song's second demo through their Instagram stories.

Leak history[]

As with certain songs, "Speak" has been leaked on one or multitude occasions. The list below shows all the timed the song has been leaked:

  • December 25, 2023 (unknown version; partial; listen)
  • August 7, 2024 (demo 5; partial)
  • January 1, 2025 (unknown version; full; listen)

Theme[]

The song seems to talk about a unhealthy romantic relationship where the narrator talks about how they were their partner's "doll but [they] let the let the curtains fall", which is likely a metaphor for how they were used by said partner then discarded, like a doll to be played with. The repeated lyric "It's hard to fix a broken heart", likely shows how they feel hurt from the emotional pain and have a hard time mending their trauma from it.

The bridge shows how the narrator is done with being used by their partner, and how they do what they want. They talk about how they just wanted to speak to someone, likely referring to how their never felt cared and/or had communication in the relationship.

Official versions[]

It's currently unknown which version the leaked demo with 3:46 duration belongs too, with the only confirmation that it's not the fifth demo.
