But yeah she [Jessica Winter] just heard me, when I would do the performance I would sing and then do the crazy stuff and she heard me sing and then was like "wow your actually a really good at singing, we should record".
[...] and then i guess she found out that I was sixteen when I was like "ok finally lets record a song". I recorded my first song ["War Zone Urchin"] like lets record my second song, which was "Saccharine", and I can't believe that's the second song I ever made.

Jazmin Bean on making "Saccharine".

"Saccharine" is a song by Jazmin Bean, released on October 21, 2019, as a promotional single. It is the third track on the standard edition of their debut EP, Worldwide Torture, and is the second track on the re-up edition. An acoustic version of the song was released on their debut acoustic EP Acoustic Church Session as the fourth track.

Background[]

As stated on The Allison Hagendorf Show, Bean first recorded and wrote the song with friend and producer, Jessica Winter, during 2018 after their first recorded song, "War Zone Urchin", being the second song Bean ever recorded vocals on.[1]

Bean announced the song by sharing a snippet of it's third demo on August 28, 2019 via Instagram.[2] On September 28, 2019, Bean revealed the full track list for the standard edition revealing "Saccharine" as the third track. On TBA Bean announced the song as the second track on the re-up.

Theme[]

The song as demonstrated by the lyrics, is about having a toxic crush on a person, while simultaneously hating the idea of loving them. The narrator as shown in the song is obsessed with a person, stating they are "sweeter than a cake", but as shown later in the song, they are forcing themselves to hate the person before they do something extreme.

Bean jokingly stated through Instagram that it was a "song about ur heart spilling out at the dentist", in the post featuring the promotional artwork.[3]
