Theme[]
The song expressions an intense struggle for autonomy and the feeling of being trapped in a toxic relationship. Using animalistic metaphors, Bean compares their feelings of confinement and restriction to being a dog trapped in a pound. The repetition of the verse "Why do you make me feel like I am in the goddamn puppy pound?" shows how Bean feels like a caged animal by the person the song was written about.
