"Little Jimmies" (cover-up title by Bean; also erroneously referred to as "Past Self" and "Hell") is an unreleased song by Jazmin Bean. It was intended to be on the early version of Traumatic Livelihood, however, the project was revised. It was later reused for the final version of the album but was ultimately removed. The remains unfinished.
They first mentioned the song by posting two snippets of the song on June 10, 2021, being performed in a studio through Instagram with the caption[1]:
"Giving kisses in the morning , while I’m mourning over my past self ,,, also I just tried picking up and writing on guitar for the first time ever today swipe to see , no judgment allowed haha I’m just entering this world 🐁"
They later posted a snippet of another demo in 2021.
On March 15, 2023, Bean asked fans through Twitter to help them decide between two songs, this and "Silly Worms".[2] Bean also gave the song a fake title, being "Little Jimmies".[3]
When Traumatic Livelihood was released fans thought the snippets posted were from a demo of the song "Stockholm Butterfly". Bean later revealed that the song was a separate song that was sampled and reworked into "Stockholm Butterfly".[4]
Theme[]
The song seems to be about "mourning" over your past self after you let them metaphorically "go" from past trauma inflicted by another individual. The narrator speaks on in the song how they mourn and "give kisses" during the morning for their past self and shield them away from the truth, as shown by the narrator saying they are "telling them lies". The narrator also speaks on how the person who hurt them acts like they never knew them at all, even though they did, and how the worst part was that once they "got down" it would "hurt like hell".
